How the CLAT Process Works
CLAT (UG) is a six-stage pipeline from registration in the middle of the year to seat allocation the following year. Missing a step, or misreading what it requires, costs candidates seats every cycle. Here's the flow in order.
The six stages, in order
- Registration — apply online on the official Consortium portal; fill personal/academic/category details and upload documents. Opens mid-year for several weeks.
- Admit card — released online closer to exam day, with your centre, reporting time and roll number. Correction/centre-change windows are short.
- Exam day (offline OMR) — a pen-and-paper sheet: no on-screen review flag, no 'mark for later', no changes once collected.
- Provisional answer key + objections — published within days, usually with your response sheet. A short, fixed window to file evidence-backed objections (often a per-objection fee). Contested keys do get revised.
- Final answer key + result + merit rank — after objections, a final key and results follow, as an All-India Rank (and category ranks). The rank, not a raw score, drives everything downstream.
- Centralised counselling — one process across NLUs: fill an ordered preference list, seats allotted by rank/category/preference across rounds (accept, upgrade or exit at each, against fees and deadlines).
Why the answer-key window matters
The objection window is the only formal chance to contest a question before your rank locks in. Frequently-withdrawn questions tend to be the analytical/arrangement puzzles in Logical Reasoning — if a set felt internally inconsistent on exam day, that instinct is worth noting for a possible objection.
What this platform covers — and doesn't
We focus on the part you can train for: the paper's real structure and the reading/reasoning skill it tests, through practice, full mocks, and past-paper-pattern analysis. We do not process your registration, admit card, objections, or counselling — those happen only on the official Consortium portal.

Registration and exam dates, application fees (and category concessions), objection fees, and the participating-NLU list all change yearly and are set by the Consortium. Confirm the current cycle on the official CLAT Consortium website (consortiumofnlus.ac.in) before acting.
